Digital TV/TNT on Linux (with "Textorm Easy TNT" USB Stick)

In the official documentation the Textorm Easy TNT use is dedicated to Windows XP (and afterward M$ versions I guess). I thought for a long time that it was a definitive solution. Fortunately that's not true ! :o)

Here is the way I followed to make it work on my Ubuntu Linux. I tried without convictions and surprisely I was set up quite easily...

1. The Textorm Easy TNT uses a DiB3000p chipset from DiBcom. It is supported by drivers from LinuxTV.

2. Install the needed stuff as per LinuxTV wiki :

     sudo apt-get install mercurial linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential

3. Then I grabbed the latest v4l-dvb driver from LinuxTV download section (personally I had to take experimental version due to make error. I got it here).

4. Then extract files, go to directory, perform a make and as root/sudo a make install

5. Install a viewer (eg MPlayer, Klear, KPlayer...) and/or a Media Center (MythTV, Freevo...), eg :

     sudo apt-get install klear

6. Get an "yet made" channels.conf file suitable to your location (eg from Klear website) and place it into the relevant directory (eg in .klear directory of your home place) or generate one (rename and copy it, method not tested although) with something like :

     sudo scandvb /usr/share/dvb-apps/scan/dvb-t/fr-Paris /etc/dvb/channels.conf-dvbt-paris

Here is the one I use for Paris (Eiffel Tower transmitter) :

7. Then run Klear and... enjoy ! :o)
